Peardrop Events Management Brand

Peardrop Diamond Event Management Organisation
Re-brand
Our client - a corporate event manager and bespoke wedding planner, was about to invest more time and energy into their business, Peardrop Events and subsequently, needed a cleaner, more professional logo design.
Our research revealed that a "peardrop", typically a peardrop diamond, is an intricately cut rounded shape with a pointed end. For the purposes of a cleaner design however, we decided to simplify the shape by removing the facets to be more like a water drop. To keep some of the dimensional charm of the original design, we added a reflective highlight to the peardrop shape. Overall, our client was very impressed with the quality and speed of our output, and the "pde" acronym we introduced.

Grunge Engagement Invitation Design
Invite
The Wedding and Engagement invitation market is saturated with run-of-the-mill templates that are allow very little room for customisation for a couple's particular style and taste. Our client's brif was to create something completely unique for their Engagement invitation design - something that had elements of Indian culture, and also mixed the old with the new.
We produced a grungey, Indian-inspired, Earthy-toned composition for our client. The colours gave a very warm and inviting feel to the design. Using cultural influences, we successfully managed to bring out the old and the new in what our client called "an amazing invite - better then what I had in mind!"

Below is a walkthrough of how we created one of our recent invitation card compositions - it may serve to inspire you in your latest project.

1. Created a vector temple arch design in Adobe Illustrator which we bought into Adobe Photoshop as a smart vector object. The title font and the grunge background were also chosen at this point as per the client's brief:

IES Logo Re-brand
Re-brand
We were commisioned to overhaul the IES brand - to freshen up a dated look for an educational body that has been teaching children about Hinduism as part of their R.E. for almost 20 years. The use of water flowing was important - indicative of the how education also needs to be constantly flowing and not stagnant. The lotus flower was also a key feature to be incorporated - for it grows in muddy water, rising above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. Similarly, IES provides children with a fun-packed, knowledge-filled & thought-provoking presentation on Hinduism, to help children rise above the muddy water of Hinduism in R.E.
Overall, we softened the previously harsh and blocky feel to the logo (see "before" above), by replacing the fonts used to serif and script typefaces. Together with the new custom-drawn lotus and water illustrations, the logo bought about a touch of elegance and sophistication to our client's brand. Our client received much praise on account of their identity re-brand.

Google's Story of Parisian Love

This primetime Superbowl advert, tells a story of love, or at least what is presumably one boy's search for romance. The ad delivers a clever, subtle, and yet delicately immotive statement on how Google's search engine has become a quintessential part of our everyday lives - its even useful in helping with romance.

One YouTube commenter in particular was undoubtedly what Google had been hoping for. “ahhh was watching the superbowl (coincidentally as an American girl in Paris ) and this made me cry!!” said gabriellepomay. “Best ad of the whole superbowl!”

Beautilfully simple!

By default, Dreamweaver cannot read PHTML files. You can add the file type to the “Open in Code View” section of the preferences if you wish to have fast access, however you cannot view the file in design view if you do that. So if you use Dreamweaver (versions 4, MX, MX2004, 8, or 9, aka CS3, or CS4) to design your sites, and you wish to open Magento’s Template files (they have .phtml extensions) in Dreamweaver, you can follow these steps to add support for .phtml and make Dreamweaver render PHP code (with coloring, hinting, et al) as well as allow you to see the design in code view if desired. Below are three steps to follow.*

People often ask us, how do I get my site "out there" on the web? Here are the 3 most popular methods that we have seen:

  • Word of Mouth
  • Like-minded Web Sites
  • Advertising Services

Above all, promoting your site will cost, either in terms of time or money, perhaps both - but you generally get back what you are willing to put in. We often underestimate how spending a little time and money on our business may pay off...

Our client Havering Council was presented with the prestigious Beacon award from the Improvement & Development Agency for its work in creating a safer night time economy - the only London borough to have achieved such status. They therefore, wanted to celebrate by tying it in with the Cultural Olympiad and London Week of Peace through a free festival. The festival'Romfest'included; a free, day-long festival of music, dance, sport and the arts.
We were requested to include a range of areas to encourage awareness of the various cultural aspects available to the public and promote a healthier lifestyle through an eye-catching poster, newspaper advert, leaflet, t-shirt design, and a stage banner. The striking design was received well by the local residents and resulted in an outstandingly high turn out at the event.
